Another thing I notice is that a lot of people seem to have read “darker” or “darkish”.
If I recall correctly, those were not the words used. I remember seeing “dark brown” and “satiny brown”.
It’s kinda like there’s a mental auto-correct happening for some folks.
This idea of Rue and Thresh being tanned (as opposed to black) is a popular one. Again, the entire effort from Collins to illustrate District 11 as a slavery reminiscent plantation just flew right over everyone’s head. Completely didn’t register.
